Rev. Emily J. Kellar is from Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. There she met her future husband, David, a native of Duxbury. After living in both North and South Carolina, Emily, David and their three children moved to Duxbury, where they had spent many summers visiting David’s family, and where they could begin a new adventure. Their daughter Emma is a civil engineer and lives in the Boston area. Emma’s wife, Autumn is also a civil engineer in the Boston area. Emma and Autumn have a son, Nathan. Emily and David’s older son, Edward, is a marine mechanic and their younger son, Ross, is in sales and marketing.
Emily holds a Masters of Divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological School. She is a member of the Jonathan Edwards Society, Andover Newton’s honors society. Emily is ordained in the United Church of Christ. She completed her Clinical Pastoral Education with Hebrew Senior Life in Roslindale, MA. She is a certified educator in the United Church of Christ, Southern New England Conference. While Emily has worked with youth for thirty plus years, she enjoys ministering to all ages. She was called to be our minister in June of 2017 and started in that role on August 30, 2017.
Emily enjoys playing tennis, needlepoint, reading and walking. Emily believes that Jesus the Christ brought the Gospel for ALL people. She also believes that we must be the church out in the world and reminds us often to take the Gospel out of the church walls and not to leave it in the pews.
